GENERAL

Gender: Female
Years in Practice: 30+
Fee (per session): $110
Sliding Scale: Occasionally ($30-$100). I only do sliding once therapy is in process and seems to be effective. Reduced fee is thus implemented to continue therapy's effectiveness.
Insurance Policies: Though my fees are typically reimbursed by insurance companies, I do not accept "assignment" of payment by these companies. While I am willing to fill out the "provider" information on statements, I do not submit insurance claims myself. Rather, I give them to my patients for review and it's up to them to decide whether to file or not. I am not a Medicaid or Medicare provider.

TREATMENT MODALITIES:
Individual psychotherapy with all ages; consultations; psychological testing; parent counseling

I've practiced as a clinical psychologist for nearly 35 years. This work has included mental health centers and supervision of psychologists in a variety of settings. But the bulk of my experience has been in private practice where I see people of all ages--including preschoolers and the elderly--in individual psychotherapy. And this psychotherapy, regardless of the patient's age and whether the frequency of sessions is once or three times per week, is always psychoanalytic. Because the whole purpose of therapy, in my view, is to help the individual gain awareness so that he/she can deal more effectively with feelings.

Sometimes I assist such therapy with the increased information available through projective testing, which I've done since I started. When I see that medication might be helpful, I refer to psychiatric colleagues who are also psychoanalytic in their practice. A particular specialty of mine is assisting creativity in all kinds of endeavors.

For the past 18 years I've conducted a seminar entitled "Our Problems As the Roots of Our Power," which speaks to how I believe that our problems, if addressed effectively, can actually assist our growth and success. I do this for a non-profit I founded twenty years ago.
