As a psychoanalyst, I practice a deep form of psychotherapy in which my patient and I explore conscious and unconscious factors that create painful symptoms, difficulties in work and relationships, or disturbances in self-image or mood.  Insight and healing happen through a careful and empathic examination of the patient's relationships, thoughts, feelings, and dreams. Focusing on current and past experiences, we identify patterns of feeling, thinking and action that may be self-defeating.  I take an active role in helping my patients set and achieve their goals, and encourage patients to take responsibility for their own happiness and wellbeing.  When indicated for anxiety, depression, trauma or body pain, I assist patients to create a complementary program which may include yoga, meditation, body work, a support group or medication.  After therapy concludes, I remain available for future consultation.
