About the Psychoanalytic Institute of the Carolinas
A training institute affiliated with the American Psychoanalytic Association since 1955, the institute continues to graduate local and national leaders in the field of psychoanalysis and attracts promising classes of analysts-in-training. The depth and rigor of psychoanalysts' training promotes a level of professional skill, personal stability and ethical responsibility that is crucial in the mental health field.

Clinical training consists of a personal training analysis, clinical and theoretical coursework, and the supervised treatment of at least three patients in psychoanalysis. Mental health professionals who want to become psychoanalysts, as well as university faculty who apply psychoanalytic ideas in their scholarly work, are eligible to apply.

Classes offer CME Category I credits for physicians and CE Category A credits for psychologists. Letters of attendance are available for all other disciplines.
