North Carolina Psychoanalytic Society
an affiliate society of the American Psychoanalytic Association since 1977

The members and staff of the North Carolina Psychoanalytic Society appreciate your interest in who we are and what we do.  Our wish is to bring Psychoanalytic Principles and Ideas to your attention in a hope that it is of value to your field of study, your profession, and your personal life.  Our activities are to sponsor educational opportunities, scientific meetings, ongoing study seminars, and short courses for mental health professionals, academics, and others interested in psychoanalytic ideas.  We encourage an open dialogue with colleagues and friends so that our activities are meaningful and helpful.

The Society represents the American Psychoanalytic Association in the Carolinas.  We work at building relationships with other Mental Health Organizations and individual providers; we support efforts to enhance the availability of mental health services; and we support and expect ethical care by members of our Society.  The Society has an educational division that operates programs for advanced training in both the practice of psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy.  These two training programs provide individual courses and certificate opportunities.  They are available to clinicians and academicians who want to expand their knowledge of psychoanalytic ideas.

The Psychoanalytic Education Center of the Carolinas (PECC) is a collaboration of the Psychoanalytic Institute of the Carolinas (PIC) who offers full clinical training in adult, adolescent, and child psychoanalysis and the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center (PPSC) who offers introductory and advanced training programs for treatment of adults, adolescents, and children using psychoanalytic concepts and techniques. The PECC will offer individual classes and certificate programs for the general public and mental health professionals.

The Society is committed to helping connect those who wish to receive treatment with those who can provide treatment. The Psychoanalytic Referral Service has been established for this purpose.

The Society has a close working relationship with the North Carolina Psychoanalytic Foundation.  The Foundation has a number of community activities, that continue to expand, and we are proud to work in behalf of these activities.  For further information about the Foundation, the Society, and the educational opportunities, please visit our web sites.

In closing, we once again say: Welcome.
