Membership Dues
Membership dues are received on an annual basis. Memberships run on the calendar year. New members may join at any time and will pay a prorated amount for the first year.

The 2008 Dues Structure is as follows: 

Active Member: $300
This category has full rights and privileges including a right to vote.
Previously known as: Active (ACT), Institute Advance Affiliate (IAA), Psychotherapy (Scientific) Associate (PA), Psychotherapy Center Affiliate (PPSC), Academic Associate (AA), Commuting member (new category)

Active Membership Discounts (Only one reduction may be used per year):

Student ($100 reduction) - For active members who are currently in the classroom portion of their Training Program in a division of the Society.

Geographic ($100 reduction) - For commuting active members who both live and work outside of the following counties:  Wake, Durham, Chatham, Granville and Orange Counties.

Academicians who are non-clinicians - ($150 reduction) - extended to non-clinical, academic or research graduates from a psychoanalytic or psychoanalytic psychotherapy training institute as well as other academics who have demonstrated a sustained interest in psychoanalysis and who satisfy requirements of good character and professional fitness.  They have all rights and privileges of an Active Member.

New Membership ($100 reduction) - May be applied to a new membership during the year when their membership was approved.

Corresponding Member: $100
This category is available to those members of the Society who live outside North and South Carolina.  Corresponding members will not have a vote but will enjoy all other rights and privileges of membership.

Exploratory Member: $200
Exploratory Membership may be extended to those who does not currently qualify for Active membership. A member may remain in this category for up to 3 years. At that point the exploratory member either must qualify for Active Membership or leave the Society.  Members in this category have limited privileges to be determined by the Board.  They do not have a right to vote. 

Other Members and Designations:
Life Member (Added to Active Membership with Voluntary Contribution)
Charter Member (Added to Active Membership. For all those who were Active members of the Society on April 30, 1977, when it was accepted as an Affiliate Society of the American Psychoanalytic Association.)

Honorary Member
(May not vote or hold office and are exempt from dues.  Honorary members enjoy all other rights and privileges of active membership.)
